Austin Rivers was born on August 1, 1992 in Santa Monica, California, but moved to winter park florida where he spent his early life. Austin is currently a senior at winter park high school were he set the scoring record of the school averaging 33.7 points per game, with a career high of 51 points. He also averaged 14 points as a freshman. Austin not only had an amazing senior year of basketball with winter park but he also had a good year with his AAU team. The difference between Austins AAU team and most is that most AAU teams represent there school, city, or even state, but Austins represents more, the united states (USA elite).
Austin was verbally committed to Florida state after his freshman year of high
school but after three years of considering he committed to Duke. He would
now be wearing not a winter park jersey, or a USA elite jersey, but a Blue Devils Duke jersey. His reasons for joining the Blue Devils was that there offense matched his own, and that the coach, Mike Krzyzewski, encouraged freedom on the court.
Austin is a great player with many honors and awards to his name. He qualified for a McDonald's All American and was espn's #1 high school player in the nation. He is hoping to bring many more wins for the Blue Devils and continue his career even beyond college.
